There are two types of consequences for my actions. Bad or negative things that happen as a result of my actions, and good or positive things that don’t happen as a result of my actions. How many good things have not happened to me that could have if it weren’t for my anger problem? The negative things that happen are usually fairly obvious: Loss of or damaged relationships, loss of jobs, jail, remorse, etc. But what about the good things that didn’t happen to us as a result of our behavior? This is more difficult to measure. A job offer, promotion, or other opportunity that never happened; a relationship with a valuable person that never materializes; good times we could have had, etc. We can only guess at what good things may not have happened as a result of our negative attitudes and behavior.
