Choosing battles wisely means knowing when to take a stand or when to “stand down.” In order to be good at this, I must have my priorities straight and have them in mind as I go through the day. Knowing what is important in my life will help me make good decisions on whether or not to engage in certain pursuits or “battles.” If I am learning to act in my best interest, then I will realize that certain things are not worth it and will only take me further away from my goals. I cannot afford to waste my time and energy on mindless, pointless arguments or battles that I either can’t win or won’t get me anywhere even if I do win. What good does it do me to win the battle but lose the war?
